They go to the railway station first thing in the morning; sunrise is at about five o’clock, the first train half an hour later, so they set up a defensible position in the ladies’ waiting room, but end up not being attacked. Gertrude and Audrey do get a second bearing.
Back in London, Milly arranges to see Felicity that night in case things have changed. Gertrude plots the new bearings with the others, and gets some new maps; the overlapping area is now tied down to a strip south-east of Maidstone, about three miles long, including the tiny village of Kingswood.
Renting a car seems like a good bet, but there’s the police auction on Thursday to think of too.
