Sunday 13 July 1930
In the morning they go back to London; they can’t reach Farquharson today. There are posters for a spiritualist commemoration of the life of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (who died last week) at the Royal Albert Hall; Lin Tan and Gertrude go along, to find some 6,000 people and a competently-organised spiritualist show (including a message from the spirit of Sir Arthur which his widow confirms is genuine). There’s no sign of shine in the place.
