Another entertaining episode. I have to admit that when I saw the mention of yak shaving I thought it referred to an episode of 90s animated series "Ren & Stimpy", thus:

That's where the term originates, but it got abused by programmers. :)

Of course, the negotiations at campaign start only work if your players don't LIE to you! :-) Summerland campaigns have a mechanic that prior to character gen the players vote on what sort of play style they want - Action-Adventure, Investigation or Survivalist. One group stuck Investigation at the top of the list... then ran away from every mystery plot I offered them!

Hmm! Must admit that hasn't happened to me, though sometimes campaigns come out differently from the way I'd planned them.

1976: Long hot summer. Disco. Punk. (As you're heading in the general direction of Manchester, well, the legendary Free Trade Hall Sex Pistols gig happened that year.) But I confess that only the first of those really impacted on me at the time.
Beyond that, I've got very little. RPGs have a weird inability to lend themselves to this sort of anniversary-commemorative event. They somehow tend to be very much of the moment.

My TORG character has a background as a Paris-Dakar rally driver before the invasions. Roger actually looked up the route of the rally in 1990 and said "Yes it went through Egypt, it makes sense for her to be fundraising there". It doesn't matter! Sponsorship can be raised anywhere regardless of the route of the race. Probably another example where looking it up didn't take very long though.

What can I say, I like doing research for games.
