Tuesday 20 May 1930
A graffito has shown up in various places round London, visible only to those with a special sight; it reads, “If you wish to know more, come to Samuels Brothers Bookshop on the evening of 22 May”.
Lin Tan is suspicious, and keeps an eye on the place (distinctly off the Charing Cross Road). It looks pretty run-down, though it gets some custom; she doesn’t go in. Around six o’clock a woman locks up the shop and leaves.
